Viva Italia As Mall Has A Ball

CROWN St Mall was transformed into Little Italy as Illawarra Italians gathered yesterday for the Tutti in Piazza Italian Day Festival.

A smorgasbord of Italian delights, including gingerbread, crostoli, traditional cakes and nougat tempted mall visitors.

Large quantities of pasta were boiled in cauldrons along the pedestrian mall and sellers offered Italian arts and crafts.

The Illawarra Italian Choir entertained guests including Lord Mayor Alex Darling, Minister for the Illawarra David Campbell and Wollongong councillors Frank Gigliotti and Val Zanotto.

A procession of traditional costumes and flags also was staged.
