There's the residence block, apartment block and then the piazza that links the two.The European-style piazza, landscaped and paved, will be a focal point for concerts and classical music events."The Victorian Symphony Orchestra will play four concerts a year here," says Richard Cookesley, group sales and marketing director of developer Bensons Property Group.Apart from that, the piazza will have a wall of living art for local artists to show their talents, plus a centrepiece sculpture. And there will be places for a serve of coffee culture as well, from the trattoria or bistros that take up the retail tenancies planned for Travancore. The project, designed by Fender Katsalidis Architects, takes full advantage of its parkland setting, overlooking Debneys Park to the west and Delhi Reserve to the north. The block, called Travancore Residences, abuts Delhi Reserve. This block of 50 apartments, over four levels, has two and three-bedroom apartments that would suit owner-occupiers, says Mr Cookesley. Four lifts, each serving three apartments per level, will be installed in this block. Apartments in the Travancore Residences range from 71-125 square metres, with balconies of about 24 square metres each. Each apartment in this block also has two car park spaces in the basement. The building called Travancore Apartments will have 90 apartments over five levels. Mr Cookesley says these are mainly one- and two-bedroom apartments ranging from about 60-105 square metres. This building, which has frontage to Mount Alexander Road and retail tenancies on the ground level, will also look over the central piazza. The building will have artworks in the lobbies and two lifts to serve the apartments. The choice of finishes in these air-conditioned apartments includes stone kitchen benchtops, glass splashbacks, limestone tiles and timber flooring. The main bathrooms will have "his-and-hers" sinks. Construction starts in February.Public sales start today and an on-site display suite is open today and tomorrow, from 2-4pm.The development is about three kilometres from the CBD in a fascinating little suburb tucked between Ascot Vale to the north and west, Flemington to the south and Parkville to the east.
