SPURBEST'S proposed $105million Waterfront development consists of six buildings around a piazza and internal pedestrian walkway through to the corner of Baker Street and Geogiana Terrace.

The buildings will be for a mix of residential and commercial uses.

This includes the construction of 235 units, a 90-room international hotel opposite the council administration building, four retail outlets on Mann Street, food outlets centred on the piazza and a cinema and commercial units off Baker Street.

Under the present proposal, the tallest building would be 16 levels and the smallest seven.

The project, which is tipped to employ about 400 people in construction, features ``cutting edge environmental initiatives" including solar heating and water recycling and an on-site sewage treatment plant.
